The Jinx

The JinxThe Jinx by D.F. Lamont
My rating: 3.5 of 5 stars

The Jinx is the story of Stephen Grayson, a 13-year old whose run of bad luck gets so bad he worries he is endangering his family. Fearing he is cursed, he flees home to protect his family, only to find that he is in the middle of a tug-of war between a cult obsessed with order and misshapen monsters known as “Chaons” who seem bent on hunting him down.

Wonderfully Wicked Wrap-up

Well I can only hope that I'm not the only one who got to a point where I didn't want to read anymore. I don't know what happened. I barely got through Rapunzel's Daughters and Other Tales, half way through I decided to skip the stories I'd never heard of since I wouldn't get them anyway. I tried a couple and had no clue what was going on, and most of them didn't seem very inspired, it just felt like they were written because the authors were told to write them.
At least I did finish The Crucible and The Jinx, which I'll have a review for on Friday, it's the one I previously mentioned that I didn't want to say anything about just yet.

My next and final read-a-thon, (unless I can find another for next weekend), this month is actually just for a book club I'm in so it's actually not a huge deal. It goes until Saturday, so I'm not done reading just yet. Although why I would want to be, I'm not sure.

Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-thon

And I continue my month of the read-a-thon with the Wonderfully Wicked Read-a-thon hosted by: Bex @ Kindle Fever and April @ My Shelf Confessions, my second this month since one ended up being cancelled. But that doesn't mean I haven't been reading, I've actually been getting through a lot of books, it's kind of scary really.

Author Interview: Rose Pressey

I'm pleased to finally bring you the long awaited (well alright not really since I never mentioned it here and had kind of forgotten about it) author interview with Rose Pressey!

This interview would have gone with my review for Rose Pressey's Rock'n'Roll Is Undead at the end of August, but emails will do what they sometimes do and mine got lost somehow; so I didn't receive the response until earlier this week.
Which is perfectly fine, because now I get to talk about Rock'n'Roll Is Undead again.
I'd just like to say I'm holding this books partially responsible for my sudden fascination with anything rockabilly related. I say partially because the rest is just naturally me and is most likely why I chose to review Rock'n'Roll is Undead in the first place. Well also for the paranormal mystery; 2 of my 3 favorite genres.

Top Ten Book Titles Or Covers

Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

To tell the truth it's kind of rare for me to read a book based solely on it's cover, it might get my attention but it's all about the back cover.
But I have recently added a few books because of their titles. So it's really titles or covers that make me want to read them since I actually haven't gotten to most of them.

Top Ten Books I Wish I Could Read Again For The First Time

Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Ever read a book that blew your mind away with its plot twists and ending so much, that you wish you could read it for the first time again, with a clean slate?
Don't we all? I like to look at it as "reliving the magic". As much as I love a book no matter how many times I reread it there's nothing like the first time.

RemembranceRemembrance by Michelle Madow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
New Hampshire high school junior Lizzie Davenport has been reincarnated from Regency Era, England ... but she doesn't know it yet.
Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her.

Frightful Fall Read-a-thon Update#1

I hit a huge road block with the reading today really that goes for the entire week... I discovered The Dick Van Dyke Show's 50th Anniversary, TVLand is showing it all week.  That show is right up there with I Love Lucy, and if you've noticed that's a lot. Possibly more since I've only discovered it eight years ago and haven't seen it as much.

Frightful Fall Read-a-thon

This is turning into the year of the read-a-thon for me, and October will definitely be the month that confirms that.
This month I have entered 4 different read-a-thons, but conveniently they seem to coincide with each other, one ends just as the other begins then two weeks later I do it again. (3 are posted on the side.)
