Banned Books Week

Seeing how it's the middle of the week I presume that you've heard about it being banned book week, although last year I thought it was a whole month. Is there such a month? I remember sometime last year I was talking to someone about reading To Kill a Mockingbird since it was banned book month. Or was it week?
Oh well we're here now, and if you did know about it you probably also knew about the blog hop.

Which is pretty much the reason I'm posting this now as opposed to the beginning of the week. I didn't sign up to participate because I'm not that familiar with banned books.

Top Ten Books I Want To Reread

Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Throughout high school I would probably reread more books than get new ones, I was a choosy reader and it was hard for me to find new things I liked so I would just stick with what I loved.
Ever since I got out of high school though I've barely even touched any of those books.
My top ten books I want to reread are:

Giveaway Winner

And then I realized I still hadn't chosen a winner for the giveaway! I've been a total scatterbrain lately, or as an Italian friend once put it swiss cheese moment.

So the winner is Jenny S.!
(THAT'S AN EXCLAMATION POINT NOT AN L)

Congrats! Jenny won Splendor.
It's really good, one of my favorites in the series.

And thanks for everyone who entered, and to all the new followers, I got really close to hitting a hundred. So close that I thought about choosing 2 winners if I got there.
Of course I didn't think about sharing that so sadly there's only one winner.

Top Ten Books I Feel As Though Everyone Has Read But Me

IT'S THE LAST DAY TO ENTER THE BRIGHT YOUNG AND LUXE GIVEAWAY!

I found an awesome weekly meme that is all about top tens!
It's hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
I love Top Ten list, I love any type of list actually so this is yet another perfect meme for me to join.
There are actually a lot of books I feel like everyone has read that I haven't, most since I'm always against following the crowd, once something becomes hugely popular I avoid it as best I can.The Luxe and Hunger Games being the only immediate exceptions, especially The Luxe I remember it was everywhere when it was published. Or was that my imagination?

My list is probably filled with books that make people go what? really you haven't read it? Well no I haven't, and if you haven't feel free to let me know that I'm not alone.

Thoughtfull Thought: Book to Movie

Today's thoughtful thought is brought to you by THIS article and the Bright, Young and Luxe giveaway. (Read the article it'll connect.)
I read this article in July so a lot of you have probably heard about it by now, if not well now you know, The Luxe is coming to the big screen.

Yay!? Boo!? I hope I'm not the only one conflicted with this news.

While reading Rumors I actually said that if it's ever made into a movie the guy chosen to play Henry Schoomaker better be hot so I could understand the appeal, and why all the girls in the book love him. But then it just hit me that it being a young adult novel they would most likely get a pretty young actor for that role. Young being around my age or less, which really scares me at times just because well they're my age!
Or worse they're younger.

Rumors, Envy, Splendor Reviews

In honor of the Bright, Young and Luxe Giveaway, I decided to share my reviews for the last 3 in The Luxe series.

I never got to writing one for Luxe but maybe I'll try to have one out by the end of this week.

Rumors (Luxe, #2)Rumors by Anna Godbersen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
!!! 4.5 stars
I think this would be one of the books that Diana Holland reads alone in her room.
It's really great, and I'll admit I'm prone to spoilers so after I read what would happen that just drove me more. There were moments where I think I was reading with my mouth wide open; it's all so shocking. Well alright not really, most of it was actually expected but still. Towards the end I was actually admiring Anna Godbersen for coming up with the story and questioning how she did.

Music Monday

Music Monday is a weekly meme for Musings of a Reader Happy, which features all-sorts of music, soundtrack, and fan playlist for music and movies.

I love music and have wanted to join one of these memes for a while, it was actually between this one and one for Thursday at Goodnight Moon, I still might join them too, you can never have too much music in your life.

For my first Music Monday I've chosen Alan Jackson's Where Were You

Darwin's Children

I 'm not sure why but the last couple of weeks I have absolutely loved the books I've read. I don't know if it's just the books alone or something has been triggered in me that has made me enjoy reading as much as I used to. Either way that's good news for Darwin's Children.

Darwin's Children (Volume 1)Darwin's Children (Volume 1)

My rating 4.5 of 5 stars

Life can get pretty complicated for any seventeen-year-old girl, but for a home-schooled telepathic black girl trying to survive in a prestigious private school in small-town Jonesborough, Tennessee, it can be maddening – especially when her telepathic father keeps eavesdropping on her thoughts!

Jaycie Lerner’s family isn’t the usual mom-dad-kid setup. Jaycie’s mom’s MIA, but Allison, her personal live-in ‘trainer,’ is more than a mom, with her own special abilities, like being able to lift cars and run incredibly fast. And Jaycie’s godfather John is more than persuasive – he can literally convince anyone to do anything.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday. What are you Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey where we share what we have been reading and what we plan to read this week.

I haven't posted about what I'm reading all summer, mostly because at the time it was all going so slow. But with a new season approaching things have changed a bit... hopefully.

"To-Do" #2 - Ride a Mechanical Bull

This is a list of things to do in my life. I'm making it because I'm big on life experiences.
I've decided to share my list here because like any goal it should be written out.  I can't remember if it's encouraged to share them, all those high school goal setting lectures are kind of fuzzy, I know I never actually spoke my goals aloud.
Which might be why I haven't reached them.
But these aren't life goals, those are actually important to accomplish. These are things I'd like to experience in my life, however small, although very few actually are.
I'm going to be numbering these post just to keep track; the items on my list aren't really in any specific order
