Top Ten Favorite Quotes From Books

Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

I love quotes as much as I love top ten list.
Which actually isn't that good a thing, since there is no way I'm narrowing it down to ten.

I'm gonna cheat a little with some and combine two from the same book.

1) “But really, the term “forgive and forget” doesn’t make sense to me. Forgiving does allow us to stop dwelling on an issue, which isn’t always healthy. But if we forget, we don’t learn from our mistakes. And that can be deadly.” ― Meg Cabot, Abandon

2) “True love is like a metal tested in a fire. Fires of adversity surround us daily. Are we to love only when it is merely convenient? Like gold or silver, which very hot fire must heat to purge them of impurities, love must be thrust into the fire from time to time to make it purer, stronger and more resilient. And in the same way, love shines its brightest right out of the flames.”

“So it is with life. Those thorns, the prickly problems of life, cause us to strive to rise above them and then, as we do, we learn. We learn to exercise true compassion, true kindness - or the thorns, if we let them, cause us to brood, to mourn over our trials. Then we plant the seeds of bitterness, hate, and ruin - weeds. We may reach up for the rose or down to the weeds...the weeds in life that tangle us, strangle us, and cause us to lose hope.”

3) I've always believed in savoring the moments. In the end, they are the only things we'll have.”
Anna Godbersen, The Luxe

4) You must be honest. If you cannot tell yourself what you want, you will never get it.”
DeAnna Cameron, The Belly Dancer

5) a wish is a good place to start but then you have to get off your butt and make it happen. You have to pick up a quill and write your own damn story.”
Suzanne Selfors, Saving Juliet
6)  Though she be but little, she is fierce!” William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream

7)  I don't think unhappiness is fated.”
Michelle Moran, Cleopatra's Daughter

8) “You can't go back to how things were. How you thought they were. All you really have is...now.”
Jay Asher, Thirteen Reasons Why

9) “How sad it was, Carmen thought, that you acted awful when you were desperately sad and hurt and wanted to be loved. How tragic then, the way everyone avoided you and tiptoed around you when you really needed them. Carmen knew this vicious predicament as well as anyone in the world. How bitter it felt when you acted badly to everyone and ended up hating yourself the most.”

“Why does he have to be my boyfriend? Are you inferior if you don't have a boyfriend? Why does everybody have to be in love with somebody?”
Ann Brashares, Girls In Pants: The Third Summer Of The Sisterhood

10) “One's days were too brief to take the burden of another's errors on one's shoulders.”

“The one charm of the past is that it is the past.”

“Live! Live the wonderful life that is in you! Let nothing be lost upon you. Be always searching for new sensations. Be afraid of nothing.”

“Nowadays most people die of a sort of creeping common sense, and discover when it is too late that the only things one never regrets are one's mistakes.”

  2. The Picture of Dorian Gray is just too quotable, especially if the words are coming from Lord Henry. I love his monologue to Dorian in the second chapter.
