It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

It's Monday. What are you Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey where we share what we have been reading and what we plan to read this week.

Totally behind on today's post, if you want to get technical seeing as how I haven't posted since last Monday I'm very behind on postings.

Winners

Our Meg-a-Readers event has been over for about a week and I'm barely announcing the winners to the last few giveaways.

Actually, a week is pretty good time for me.

As I mentioned in a previous post my computer broke down, and while I did get it running normally again, for some reason it refuses to acknowledge anything Google related and when it does it sends me to completely random sites, which are well spam.
I've been given suggestions to help, but they all involved Google. I'll let you guess how those turned out.

So I've been trying to get the winners names all week, I was living on the false hope that maybe just maybe it would magically be there.
But no, of course not.

High Summer Read-a-thon Wrap Up

I don't know about you but I found myself reading right up to the end of this read-a-thon.
Mainly because I only had a chapter left and got called into work before I could finish and really wanted to get to the end last night.

Total pages read 443.
Total books read: 2

First time I ever get through 2! Yay!

Thanks to The True Book Addict for hosting.
And also thanks to Nova @ My Seryniti, turns out I won the giveaway for her mini-challenge!

Now it's time to return to our regularly scheduled reading.

High Summer Read-a-thon Day 6

Pages Read: 374

I couldn't add any other updates since other than not having much else to say, my computer shut down. I spent the day yesterday trying to fix it and thankfully it is running again. Slow, but running.
Silver lining about it running so slow: while waiting I was able to finish The Second Empress.

I'm about 50 percent into The Great Gatsby, might finish it today I don't know.

One More Meg Story

And just like that our two months as Meg-a-Readers has come to an end. Well that’s not true, we’ll always be Meg-a-readers.

Normally I don’t like endings but I’m alright with this. Even if there is so much left unsaid, that’s because I’ve heard through the grapevine – by which I mean the discussions I've had with Mandy – there is talk of us doing this again next year.
(Yeah I know I totally went third person there.)

First off I have to thank my co-host Mandy for coming up with the entire idea and inviting me to join. This was all her, posting promoting, getting this event out there for everyone to know about. Everyone aware of this event is probably only reading this because of her.

Not only did she get people joining in but she got Meg herself talking about it!

Guardians: The Girl - Review

Guardians: The Girl by Lola St.Vil
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
Published February 10th 2012

Emmy - a bookish, witty student - is rescued by six teenaged angels with powers, called Guardians. They've been sent to elicit the secret from her before the demons can. Emmy later learns that her name is the only clue to locating a sought-after bridge that for centuries, Evil has plotted to destroy; this would in turn bring about the end of humanity.

Things get worse when Emmy falls madly in love with Marcus, the well-intentioned but obstinate leader of the Guardians. He eventually confesses that he is in love with her as well. Unfortunately, Marcus has been warned by his clairvoyant and omniscient guide that should he and Emmy get together, the mission will fail and humanity will perish.

Author Interview - Meg Cabot!

I'm not even going to do my usual author interview intro seeing as how the last two months have been pretty much all Meg Cabot.

My co-host Mandy was able to get an awesome interview, and since she is also awesome she's sharing here with us too!

High Summer Read-a-thon Update 1

Pages read: 56

Not where I thought I'd be. I was hoping maybe 200, considering that 56 is kind of a high number for the small amount of reading I've done these two days. But stuff happens, like shiny objects distract me. Or in yesterday's case a sandwich and Lilo and Stitch.

High Summer Read-a-thon

Insatiable & Overbite Giveaway
When Lighting Strikes & Codename Cassandra Giveaway

Time for another read-a-thon!
Much like last week I'm aiming for quarantine; which didn't workout the way I planned but I did finish 2 books so maybe there's something to it.

Second times a charm.

Last Meg-a-Readers Giveaway

Alas the time has come for my final Meg-a-Readers giveaway.
And I’ve saved my favorite for last!
But first:
The winner of Ready or Not:
Dana C.

And of course Mandy and I are still giving away Insatiable and Overbite.

I finished Overbite earlier this week and loved it! I’m barely getting over it.

(Although I was dreaming about vampire hunters, and just discovered a new movie coming out this weekend featuring them. I know it’s SYFY so I shouldn’t have my hopes too high but everything in me is telling me to watch.)

So I guess I’m currently running two giveaways of my favorite books.
What’s the other?

Once Upon a Read-a-thon Wrap up

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon

I didn't get to do any updates or challenges this read-a-thon. I'd love to say I was too busy reading, which I was but I also had to disconnect my computer once again.

Total Page read: 368.
Give or take 10.

Meg-a-Readers Quotable Quotes Part 3

Quotable Quotes is my way of sharing some of my favorite quotes from books, movies and songs.

Since the last quotes I shared were more fun and funny, this week I decided to share some of Meg Cabot's more thoughtful quotes.

Top Ten Favorite Books This Year So Far

Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Since we recently hit the halfway point of the year I thought I'd share my favorite reads so far this year. Right after I finished some of these books I just started thinking I can't wait to add them to the end of the year list! But why wait when I have a freebie today.

Once Upon a Read-a-thon Goals

Once Upon a Read-a-Thon

I had every intention to write up my goals for this read-a-thon on Sunday night so I'd have even more time to read.
Unfortunately it was somewhat of a long weekend and for some reason on Saturday I thought it was Sunday (probably because I wanted it all to be over) and then on Sunday I thought it was Saturday.
So yesterday thinking that today was going to be Sunday I kept reminding myself to be sure to post up my read-a-thon goals.
Then all of a sudden it hit me...oops!

Insatiable Giveaway

Hi everyone!
Can we just take a quick moment and... well I don't know what, but this is my second to last giveaway for the Meg-a-Readers and as far as I can see these will be my last until maybe mid-fall.

Second to last giveaway, second to last week... sad.

Moving on to a less nostalgic note. Mandy and I have combined giveaways and are both giving away signed copies of Insatiable and it's sequel Overbite!

Blood Oath (A Gabby Girls Adventure Novel #2)

Blood Oath (A Gabby Girls Adventure Novel, #2)

by
Published March 6th 2012 by One Wish Publishing
Welcome to the dark and powerful world of the Eternals Before I discovered that I was born into a secret society called the Eternals, blood-oath Warriors sworn to track and slay the dark and evil creatures that walk the shadows of the earth, the only major thing that I, I mean we--that's me, Jessica, Rosalinda, and Zora--cared about was starting our freshman year at Vineswell Academy, the prestigious boarding school for girls. But that was way before the blinders were cruelly ripped from our eyes and cold reality slapped us on the back of our heads with a chain of not-so-nice realities, like the fact that everything we knew about our mothers was all lies, essentially smoke and mirrors designed to hide their very secretive lives as Circles, women Warriors inside the very deadly world of the Eternal Warriors.

It's Monday, What Are You Reading?

It's Monday. What are you Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Book Journey where we share what we have been reading and what we plan to read this week.

Another week and, once again, yet another month. Halfway through the year. That's... actually not as weird as I would normally feel it was.

Florence - Review

FlorenceFlorence by Ciye Cho
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Seventeen-year-old Florence Waverley is out of her depth. Literally. Kidnapped and taken below the waves to the mer world of Niemela, she is the ultimate gift for merman Prince Kiren: a human familiar tied to his side. But nothing is what it seems amid the beauty and danger of a dark ocean.

Every Niemelan has a role to play, from the mermaids who weave towers out of kelp to the warriors who fight sea monsters. But in trying to survive, Florence will end up in the middle of a war between the mer and the Darkness. A conflict that will push her between two brothers: Kiren, the charmer inexplicably drawn to both her and the monsters; and Rolan, the loner who has been pushing her away since the day they met. But in order to take a stand--and find out where she belongs--Florence will have to risk it all: her life, her heart... and her very soul.
