Branded - Review

Branded by Abi Ketner &  Missy Kalcicki
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Twenty years ago the Commander came into power and murdered all who opposed him. In his warped mind, the seven deadliest sins were the downfall of our society. He created the Hole where sinners are branded according to their sins and might survive a few years. At best.
Now LUST wraps around my neck like blue fingers strangling me.   I’ve been accused of a crime I didn’t commit and now the Hole is my new home.
Darkness. Death. Violence. Pain.
Now, every day is a fight for survival. But I won’t die. I won’t let them win.
The Hole can’t keep me. The Hole can’t break me.
I am more than my brand. I’m a fighter.
My name is Lexi Hamilton, and this is my story.

A few steps short of beyond amazing.

This was like nothing I've read before, most dystopias involve characters trying to stay safe from whomever is in control, but this this is the story of the character that didn't manage to do that. But of course she wasn't too safe to begin with.

Lexi is an awesome, it's hard not to feel for her and everything she has to endure. I especially love the fact that she is such a strong character considering everything that is thrown at her; she never breaks down and she is given many reasons to do so.
All the characters are incredible from the moment they are introduced it's like you already know them and they each have a certain comfort to them. The likable ones that is, everyone receives the emotion they're meant to.

Read the first chapter here.
