Tune In Tuesday - 2014

I've been wanting to share these songs for the longest time! Like since February or March maybe. Although if you really look at my posting consistency that's about only three or four posts.

I've mentioned before that I'm always trying to pick a quote or a line from a song to represent my year, and I mentioned that at the beginning of the year that I didn't even have a clue which I was going to pick this year.
Of course now that I think of it a few more come to mind. Maybe I'll write them down for next year, then I'd just have to hope my mind frame doesn't change too much.

The Traitor's Wife: The Woman Behind Benedict Arnold and the Plan to Betray AmericaThe Traitor's Wife: The Woman Behind Benedict Arnold and the Plan to Betray America by Allison Pataki
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A riveting historical novel about Peggy Shippen Arnold, the cunning wife of Benedict Arnold and mastermind behind America’s most infamous act of treason ...

Everyone knows Benedict Arnold—the Revolutionary War general who betrayed America and fled to the British—as history’s most notorious turncoat. Many know Arnold’s co-conspirator, Major John AndrĂ©, who was apprehended with Arnold’s documents in his boots and hanged at the orders of General George Washington. But few know of the integral third character in the plot: a charming young woman who not only contributed to the betrayal but orchestrated it.

Trailer Thursday : The Traitor's Wife

The last time I shared a trailer it was this one! I didn't even realize it had been so long!

Yes I did share this trailer already; during the blog tour for The Traitor's Wife in January when I posted author Allison Pataki's character portrait of Peggy Shippen, but since I'm finally getting to a review for it I decided to revisit it.

Quotable Quotes - Cultivate

Today has really gotten away from me. This week alone has been pretty weird. Like the fact that I was already saying "this week" when it was only two days old.

Complaint for the day: It's a ten minute ride from my class to my house and somehow it still takes me an hour to get home!

Top Books About Friendship

Sad conclusion I've come to?
I don't really like books solely based on friendships.
Reason: They remind me of my own friendships, which all ended more or less on a negative note.

Life is not a novel where we promise to be there for each other forever.
Or a 50's based musical where we all sang and danced at the school carnival the last day.

Missing Lily - Blog Tour

Missing Lily Tour
missing lily “You don’t know who I am,” I whispered. He didn’t move—either away from me, or closer—and after an interminable moment, I stepped back and hurried out of the house. He didn’t follow me as I fled into the night."

Lylin was not used to being alone—much less alone, hurt, and lost. So when she is separated from her guard and forced to abandon her horse, she counts herself lucky to stumble upon a manor house. Still frightened by those who chased her into the night, she keeps her identity a secret, calling herself Lily as she accepts the help of kind servants, and the compassion of Lord Fallon. When they fall into an easy friendship, she wonders if her secrecy was too hasty. However, as she gets to know the manor and its residents, Lylin discovers that she’s not the only one hiding secrets, and it may be a very good thing that her host doesn’t know her true identity as a member of the royal family.

Tune In Tuesday - Singin' In the Rain

I can't believe it's Tuesday. Although earlier today I did find myself thinking "Oh gods. It's only Tuesday!"
I don't know why that would be a negative, it's not like I have so much going on during the weekend. And I just found out that next semester we'll be getting more hours in class which means I'll only be able to work during the weekend.
Yay! (There should be an exclamation point for sarcasm.)

Second Star - Review

Second StarSecond Star by Alyssa B. Sheinmel
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Published: May 13th 2014 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR)

A twisty story about love, loss, and lies, this contemporary oceanside adventure is tinged with a touch of dark magic as it follows seventeen-year-old Wendy Darling on a search for her missing surfer brothers.
Wendy’s journey leads her to a mysterious hidden cove inhabited by a tribe of young renegade surfers, most of them runaways like her brothers. Wendy is instantly drawn to the cove’s charismatic leader, Pete, but her search also points her toward Pete's nemesis, the drug-dealing Jas.
Enigmatic, dangerous, and handsome, Jas pulls Wendy in even as she's falling hard for Pete.

A radical reinvention of a classic, Second Star is an irresistible summer romance about two young men who have yet to grow up--and the troubled beauty trapped between them.

Blogging: Work? Not to Me

...Well maybe a little. I should say that I got the idea for this post back in February, so it's probably not even the same idea now as it was then.

I've read a few posts on other blogs about how blogging has become like work. And I totally agree with them all; it does take a lot to keep up with everything.
And honestly I don't have too much going on in my life right now.

But even getting up to write this took something.

Mainly a pep talk to myself saying "Get out of bed and do something better!"
(In my defense all I have in this room is a bed and a desk chair so my sitting options are limited.)

Stacking the Shelves [15]

I went to the book fair last month!
And I can't believe it's literally been a month. April just flew by; but fingers crossed that May takes it's time because I am not looking forward to the summer. Aside from the reading time I'm hoping to get, I do hope June and July go by in a blink.

Anyway new books I bought:
Dreams of Gods & Monsters (Daughter of Smoke & Bone, #3) Great The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) The One (Selection #3)

All signed!

The Princess Of Sparta - Review

The Princess of Sparta (Heroes of the Trojan War, #1)The Princess of Sparta by Aria Cunningham
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
Published March 14th 2014 by Mythmakers Publishing

The true story behind the epic love that sparked the Trojan War and has captivated the world for 3,000 years...

Helen of Troy, arguably the most infamous woman in ancient history, was not the seductress of Homer s poems. Her humble story began as a Princess of Sparta; honorable, loyal, with promise to become a powerful queen. Her lauded beauty was more curse than blessing, inciting lust and jealousy in the greedy kings who would make her their prize. Given in marriage to Menelaus of Mycenae, an abusive husband who neither wants nor needs her, she clings to a prophecy made to her about a great destiny, and even greater love.

Top Ten Book Covers I'd Frame

Now that we're talking about framing book covers, where are the book posters? I was looking for some online the other day and didn't find any.

Ditto for cheap movie posters too.
You can get them free at events and movie theaters how is there not a website for that?

It's Monday What Are You Reading?

Some days you wish you can pause everything and just read. Then sometimes when you can finally sit down and read you start on another random project.
Or at least I do.
That's pretty much been my mind frame lately; wishing I could just shut everything off and read and then sitting down to read and having my mind everywhere else.

Hunter Hayes

Alright I don't know how serious I was when I added "Boys" to the end of this list. And I mentioned "coming up with something" when it came to boys, when I first explained these post. But so many months later I've yet to come up with anything.
