Books 'n' Bloggers Swap Show Off

First off I'd like to thank Chaotic Goddess Swaps for holding the swap. It was my first time joining but I will definitely be participating again.

My three books came separately, each on different days leading up to my birthday.  I have to say that was pretty awesome.
And as close as I'll get to being given books for my birthday.

25 Things About Me + Giveaway

I'm turning 25 today! Or I turned 25 today? I was pretty anxious this morning and didn't really mellow out until noon; so maybe that's when my age officially changed. I don't know.

Of course turning 25 I just had to do 25 things about me. I needed something to beat last year's "Diana" themed playlist.
Which I listen to all the time, by the way.

And I didn't have a giveaway last year either.

Whispers From the Dead - Review + Giveaway

Whispers from the Dead by Karen Ann Hopkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Some Amish communities aren't so cozy.
Whispers From The Dead is the powerful and thrilling sequel to Lamb to the Slaughter, in the Amish mystery series, Serenity’s Plain Secrets.
Sheriff Serenity Adams and Daniel Bachman are once again partnered up in a criminal investigation, when they travel to a northern Amish settlement that has been riddled by arsons for the past two decades. Serenity quickly discovers that there is much more going on than just barns being set on fire in the touristy community, and that the new group of Amish has their own secrets to hide. She begins to unravel an extensive criminal underworld that threatens to destroy everything that the simple people of Poplar Springs hold dear and once again puts her own life in jeopardy.
And even though Serenity tries desperately to avoid it, things begin heating up between her and Daniel, making her wonder if true love and happiness are really within her grasp.

A Winter's Respire Read-a-thon

I've been feeling so behind lately that I almost didn't join this read-a-thon, but then I realized that it might help me get back into my old habits. I honestly don't know what I've been doing.
It might be especially helpful since it was after the FrightFall Read-a-thon back in October that everything kind of got away from me. I mentioned I was starting classes at night and, yeah, that was the worst thing ever.

January Write On Review-a-thon

Write On Review-a-Thon
The Write On review-a-thon is a monthly event created and hosted by Brianna at The Book Vixen. This time, for the FIRST TIME ever, it’s 3 days dedicated to getting reviews done, whether you have one review to write or 30+. This edition of the review-a-thon takes place all day Friday, January 23rd through Sunday, January 25th. Let’s get those reviews done!

I wish I knew what could get me back to writing. January is pretty much over and this is barely my fifth post.
Since October I think I've written, maybe, three reviews. Basically same old same in any posts I've done for this review-a-thon since then.
Which really is only two but the reviews have piled up that it feels like forever.

When by Victoria Laurie - Review

WhenWhen by Victoria Laurie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
January 13th 2015 by Disney-Hyperion

Maddie Fynn is a shy high school junior, cursed with an eerie intuitive ability: she sees a series of unique digits hovering above the foreheads of each person she encounters. Her earliest memories are marked by these numbers, but it takes her father’s premature death for Maddie and her family to realize that these mysterious digits are actually death dates, and just like birthdays, everyone has one.

Forced by her alcoholic mother to use her ability to make extra money, Maddie identifies the quickly approaching death date of one client's young son, but because her ability only allows her to see the when and not the how, she’s unable to offer any more insight. When the boy goes missing on that exact date, law enforcement turns to Maddie.

Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn't Get To

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

When I say "meant to get to" I probably mean that I have them but wasn't able to "get to" them for one reason or another.

Really more like one book or another.

Mid Century Mayhem - Book Blast + Giveaway

Mid Century Mayhem New CoverMid Century Mayhem by Bella Street

Modern day Nashville and 1950s Detroit clash worse than an IKEA futon and a plaid Barcalounger when a free-spirited interior designer and a strait-laced automotive engineer find themselves in another time. TOMS-wearing Olivia Haugen and Madras-shirted Kyle Daniels have no idea why they've ended up in 1954 Michigan, but it's probably not because of all the swank mid-century furnishings. Discovering the reason might have something to do with a wily salvage warehouse owner and her not-so-little shop of secrets.

Praise for the book: "Wow this book just drew me right into it from the start."--Diana K.

"Loved it. Details of the past were so real, you felt you were there!" --Amy B.

"This book was amazing. It was funny, harrowing, nerve-racking, and just plain awesome!!!" --Tiffany T.
