Top Ten Books I've Read So Far In 2015

http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html
I look forward to this list every year.
Except maybe this year. I don't know why but I feel like nothing I've read has "wowed" me. I've had a few favorites but nothing that has made me look forward to this list since February like past years.

While I've yet to be "wowed" this year, I did recently complete my Goodreads challenge of reading 50 books this year, so there's plenty to mention.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pUbg149me8Y/TmU08mybiGI/AAAAAAAAACQ/nRd-PgTVjYo/s1600/3.jpg

Since my last It's Monday post I have been finishing books so quickly that for a while it was one a day.
I love it when that happens, it always makes me feel like I'm getting through so much.

Finished since last post:

Song of the Moment (10)

This is a feature I've started where I pick a song that represents the week, day or month; that fits with a moment I recently had. Or that's been on repeat.
Since very little happens to me on a weekly basis I only post every two weeks.

I've often mentioned that the only reason I fit into this era is because I can enjoy the past so much better. My point: I love old music, I can spend hours listening to music from the '20's to the 50's. So I've since been introduced to new artists who put their own mix on that style of music.

Which brings us to today's song that I have had stuck in my hear for I don't know how long:

My Ten Favorite Top Ten Topics From the Past 5 Years

http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html
Apparently in the almost 4 years that I've been joining in these top ten list I haven't even hit 100.  Doing the math (which I really suck at) and considering that I don't join in weekly; I guess it does make sense but I'm still a little surprised.

I'm only listing the ones I've participated in, which may or may not have made picking easier.

Three Nights With A Rock Star - Book Review

Three Nights with a Rock Star (Half-Life, #1)Three Nights with a Rock Star by Amber Lin & Shari Slade
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Published June 2nd 2014

When Hailey crashes a Half-Life after party, she expects to find the bastard who knocked up her little sister. Instead she meets the sexy front-man who agrees to give her access to his crew if she gives him access to her body.

All Lock demands in return is three days of complete control over the Sunday School teacher. With a contract, because he’s been burned before. One misstep could send the band—and his tenuous sobriety—up in flames.

Hailey and Lock push each other’s limits… Against the penthouse window. Backstage. In the limo and on the elevator. But as the contract counts down, neither are ready for the party to end.

Fallen Idol Blog Tour - Review + Giveaway

CLP Blog Tours

fallen idol
Fallen Idol by Nikki Lynn Barrett
Rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
Published March 31st 2015 by Nikki Lynn Barrett

What goes up must come down...
Kyra Sanders had a promising career in country music in her teen years. She gained popularity and fame, riding high atop the the charts. Then one deadly accident changed things, sending her spiraling downward to the point she went into a hiatus from music.
Six years later, Kyra's making her return to the music scene. With an album in the works and a new song on the radio, her career is back on track, until a call from Texas with news of an accident forces her to halt her plans.
Matt Greer is working through the aftermath of his ex-wife's abandonment when she chose to leave him and their fourteen year old son to pursue her own musical dreams. He's had enough of troubled musicians and the havoc they bring to his life. Kyra surprises him in a good way, but it doesn't mean he wants anything to do with a singer who comes to town with trouble on her trail.
It's hard to avoid each other in a small town, especially when their families are close. Matt should stay away from the woman who could lead danger right to their town, and it's possible she already has, but he can't help how drawn he becomes to her.
The sparks ignite, but danger lurks in the distance, only getting closer as time goes on. For two people who want different things out of life, it's possible to find healing together...

Top Ten Books On My TBR For Summer 2015

http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html
I'm going to use this post as a shameless plug for my Summer Reading Challenge and share the books I'll be reading for it.
So technically they are my top ten to read this summer.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I have one book I need to finish for review, but besides that I feel like I'm totally ready for whatever is the opposite of a reading slump.
Wow I can't believe I forgot the word.
Only other word that comes to mind in "binge" but that doesn't seem to work for me.

Summer Reading Challenge

Since the usual Summer event I participate in- and co-host- (Meg-a-Readers, celebrating all things Meg Cabot) ended yesterday I decided to do something else to celebrate the summer.
I probably shouldn't call Meg-a-Readers a "summer event" since it's only ever lasted the summer once. And if I really wanted to create a "usual Summer event" I could have kept going with last year's "Summer of Authors."

But I wanted something else and something semi-new.

Meg-a-Readers Final Post

I think I was planning on making my final post a letter to Meg Cabot.
Which, now that I'm sitting here trying to write doesn't seem like too bad an idea.

Song(s) of the Moment [9]

This is a feature I've started where I pick a song that represents the week, day or month; that fits with a moment I recently had. Or that's been on repeat.
Since very little happens to me on a weekly basis I only post every two weeks.

No Fred Astaire this week.
But it is a musical.
And it does tie-in to Meg-a-Readers. It's the last week so it only seemed right.

My Thoughts While Reading Royal Wedding

Yes, my actual real thoughts I wrote down in a journal, that I had to pull out because it had been so long since I've bothered writing in one. Everything -well almost everything, my mind tends to move faster than I can actually think about sometimes- that went through my head while I was reading the book. And honestly had it really been "everything" I probably could have gone on and on longer than I really did.

These aren't notes and thoughts I jotted down for my review, I never do that although a few did help me write it, these are just everything I felt personally.

Song(s) of the Moment (8)

This is a feature I've started where I pick a song that represents the week, day or month; that fits with a moment I recently had. Or that's been on repeat.
Since very little happens to me on a weekly basis I only post every two weeks.

Unless I miss/skip a week like I'll do.
This is both a normal post and a Meg-a Reader's post, but probably more normal than Meg-a-Reader.
Apparently my last post featured a Fred Astaire video, and I swear I'm not doing that on purpose but I've got another set of his.

Royal Wedding (The Princess Diaries #11) - Review

Royal Wedding (The Princess Diaries, #11)Royal Wedding by Meg Cabot
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
June 2nd 2015 by William Morrow & Company

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding--but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.

For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia's gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn't need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royal oui.

But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother's leaked "fake" wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia's father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch. Can Mia prove to everyone--especially herself--that she's not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?

#BRANDEDVERSARY – Branded Review & Author Interview

Branded is turning 2!
And I can not believe it's been that long since I first read it! I don't think I ever stopped thinking about it... until I reread it again last year which left me looking forward to it's sequel Hunted. It's probably going to be awhile before I don't spend my summer with Lexi.
Two years ago when I first read it, I might have mentioned being distracted and said I owed it a better review, which I wrote last year, which is the one I'm sharing now along with an author interview I did with Abi Ketner & Missy Kaliciki.
