Confessions of a Queen B* by Crista McHugh Excerpt

Alexis Wyndham is the other type of Queen B—the Queen Bitch.

After years of being the subject of ridicule, she revels in her ability to make the in-crowd cower via the exposés on her blog, The Eastline Spy. Now that she's carved out her place in the high school hierarchy, she uses her position to help the unpopular kids walking the hallways.

Saving a freshman from bullies? Check.

Swapping insults with the head cheerleader? Check.

Falling for the star quarterback? So not a part of her plan.

But when Brett offers to help her solve the mystery of who’s posting X-rated videos from the girls’ locker room, she’ll have to swallow her pride and learn to see past the high school stereotypes she’s never questioned —until now.

Up To I Do - Relese Day

Emerson Sinclair, twenty-seven year old hotel heiress, has said yes. With just over a year to plan her extravagant, over the top nuptials to Logan Worthington, it’s all hands on deck with the wedding plans. A Sinclair marrying into the Worthington family is the talk of their small New Hampshire town, and ideas include filming the wedding for a TV segment. But as the items get checked off the list, plans start to go ... not as planned. From not getting a designer dress to a selfish bridesmaid and unaccountable best man, Emerson is afraid her wedding will be more a joke than anything.
When both her mother and sister seemingly begin to lose interest in her wedding plans in favor of their own personal lives, Emerson fears her big day will turn into the forgotten wedding. With the pressure to pull off a beautiful and elegant event that everyone expects from their respectable families, Emerson starts to forget the reason why she is saying I Do in the first place.

High Summer Read-a-thon Wrap Up

I completely forgot to do a page count so I don't know how much I read. But I did finish one book so I'm going to say a lot.

I wasn't feeling too great at the start of the week so it was a great excuse to just read. But then I had the house to myself this weekend so I wasn't able to read as much.
There's just something about a completely silent house that makes me think "Who am I trying to tune out with books?"

Wanna Help Me Pick Out A Dress? (My Humdrum Week 7/24)

I am so glad I decided to have "off" weeks, because even if I hadn't, I doubt any posts would have gone up this week because I was not in the mood to get up at all.
Of course if I don't get up my back starts hurting from staying in bed too long, but there's really no win since it'll probably hurt at some point in the day anyway so I'll want to get back in bed.

My not wanting to do anything worked perfectly for the High Summer Read-a-thon. I'm not sure what my page count is, but I did finish a book.
Now it goes on my list of reviews I need to write.

Thankfully I've been able to get my list of books to review under some control. I say this then look down at all the books waiting. But as far as deadlines go I'm good.

I should probably remember to not get to comfortable with the way I'm doing things right now because I do not want this to be a normal thing.
I would say I'm giving myself two weeks, but some things sure to fly out the window so fingers crossed two weeks.

High Summer Read-a-Thon "Goals"

Let's acknowledge the quote marks around Goals. I'd love to consider these actual goals but in the end they're probably... plans.

Last week I had two books I needed to finish by Thursday, which I did, but Friday when I sat down to read I couldn't do it.

The truth could cost her everything.
Her whole life, Ava Carson has been sure of one thing: she doesn’t measure up to her mother’s expectations. So when Mitchell Carson sweeps into her life with his adorable son, the ready-made family seems like a dream come true. In the blink of an eye, she’s married, has a new baby, and life is wonderful.
Or is it?
When her picture-perfect marriage begins unraveling at the seams, Ava convinces herself she can fix it. It’s temporary. It’s the stress. It’s Mitchell’s tragic history of loss.
If only Ava could believe her own excuses.
Mitchell is no longer the charming, thoughtful man she married. He grows more controlling by the day, revealing a violent jealous streak. His behavior is recklessly erratic, and the unanswered questions about his past now hint at something far more sinister than Ava can stomach. Before she can fit the pieces together, Mitchell files for divorce and demands full custody of their boys.
Fueled by fierce love for her children and aided by Graham Thomas, a new attorney in town, Ava takes matters into her own hands, digging deep into the past. But will finding the truth be enough to beat Mitchell at his own game?
Center of Gravity weaves a chilling tale, revealing the unfailing and dangerous truth that things—and people—are not always what they seem.

Last Ten Books That Came Into My Possession

http://www.brokeandbookish.com/p/top-ten-tuesday-other-features.html
I'm going to need to get to the library soon. Unfortunately "soon" probably won't be for another two months or so. At least until I finish the books I set up for my summer challenge.

Now that I think of it I can't remember the last time I saw in a library. Definitely due for a visit.
And I'm kind of proud to say I haven't been buying too many... no matter how much I want to.
Really. Right now I'm thinking of switching over to another website to see what they have.
I promise I'll try to finish up here first.

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I have two books that need to finish by the end of the week. So of course I've barely been reading much.
The last so many days have basically consisted of me sitting around thinking "You're not doing anything, you should be reading."

Unfortunately both books are so good that I can't even say it's because I'm not enjoying them.

Summer Reading Challenge Update 1

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-va_V4Qd-vJ8/VX8qHsi2bNI/AAAAAAAABUU/6PEaHDh20lo/s1600/summer2015.jpg

I noticed that it's been a month since I started this challenge so I decided to post an update on my progress.

So far I've read 2 out of 10 books.
And started 2 more but unfortunately lost them so had to get back on the waiting list to download them from the library.

Happenings 7/10

So this is turning into a thing. As much as I try to avoid the "what's going on in my life" posts; here we are.
And as always, it's pretty much nothing.

If I ever tell you I have a fabulous life with such amazing people in it. I'm lying.
Really, if I ever use the word "amazing" to describe a person I'm probably doing it sarcastically. Which unfortunately doesn't translate well when written so chances are I never will.

My life is so humdrum that every once in a while I hope for an earthquake just to shake things up.(pun not intended) Nothing big just give me something new!
My life is so humdrum that I use words like "humdrum." I might change the title of these posts to My Humdrum Life now that I think of it. It's better sounding than Happenings.
