Songs of the Moment [10/31]

This is a feature I've started where I pick a song that represents the week, day or month; that fits with a moment I recently had. Or that's been on repeat.
Since very little happens to me on a weekly basis I only post every two weeks.

As I mentioned in an earlier post today, this is my last Halloween post. And it's only 1 of 2. I also mentioned that I do not care for the day. I will now add on that my caring less now, might be because it's my sister's wedding anniversary. A wedding I, or the rest of my family, was not told about; (while everyone on Facebook was) so I'm guessing there's some resentment there too. (Plus, every once in a while, she makes it seem like she wants me to offer my help in planning a wedding party because she "feels bad" that we weren't there.)

**2017 Thought: My first, and really only, Halloween post, (if you don't count the Tim Burton "double feature" I reposted yesterday and the Top Ten Characters I'd Like To Dress Up As list) on the day my last will post. Sad.
I still don't care for the day. If possible, I care even less now.

The real nostalgia of this reposts is that I'm no longer a fan of Supernatural. I still absolutely love the early episodes, but I doubt you'd find me posting anything related to the show now.

The Monster Mash of course!

And in case you're already a little tired of that song:

The Other Brother by Meghan Quinn - Teaser

I got the call. The dreaded call every child fears. My dad wasn’t well, and the man who had always been my everything needed me.

There was only one thing to do; pack up and head back to my hometown. I had finally made my dream life in the city with the great job and loving boyfriend. But was there really a choice not to go?

I found a wonderful job, a quaint house to rent, my boyfriend was working on joining me in Binghamton, and my favorite pizza place was only miles away. Life was good.

Until I met my neighbor.

It's been three years since I'd seen Aaron Walters, and my God is he all kinds of sexy gorgeous. Figures. He was supposed to be my forever, the man I grew old with, but he had different plans. How can a man who ripped my heart apart still trip me up? How can he make me still want him now more than ever?

I’m tempted, I’m drawn toward him, I’m completely and utterly unaware that I’m dating his biological brother.

Now two men own my heart. The question is, which brother will I choose?

In case you hadn't heard; my own 7th blogoversary will be my last (unless I realize I can't live without it four months later- I'm giving myself the summer- but it will most likely be the end) and I've decided to look back on some of my favorite posts. Including this one from the Tune In Tuesday days.
I remember doing these musical inspired posts, you guys are lucky I didn't keep going. I have seen a lot more musicals since. Though I have shared a few here and there.

Check back tomorrow for more Tim Burton!

Tune In Tuesday is a weekly feature in which bloggers get to showcase another one of their loves, music! The feature is hosted by Ginger over at GReads! but until further notice you can find it over at Kate’s Tales of Books and Bands.

What Does Consent Really Mean? by Pete Wallis & Thalia Wallis - Book Review

35232852What Does Consent Really Mean? by Pete Wallis
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
November 21st 2017 by Singing Dragon

"Consent is not the absence of 'NO', it is an enthusiastic YES!!"

While seemingly straightforward, Tia and Bryony hadn't considered this subject too seriously until it comes up in conversation with their friends and they realize just how important it is.

Following the sexual assault of a classmate, a group of teenage girls find themselves discussing the term consent, what it actually means for them in their current relationships, and how they act and make decisions with peer influence. Joined by their male friends who offer another perspective, this rich graphic novel uncovers the need for more informed conversations with young people around consent and healthy relationships.

Accompanying the graphics are sexual health resources for students and teachers, which make this a perfect tool for broaching the subject with teens.

30 Song Challenge: Song that Reminds Me of an Event

This, like most challenges like this, is technically suppose to be a 30 day challenge but I've decided to make it weekly because; sadly, I'll only be blogging for 25 more weeks (not counting the final blogoversary week).

Song #25: Song that Reminds Me of an Event

I'm going literal when I use the word "event," I feel originally it was meant as a moment in my life type of event, but I'm going with an event I went to. Which technically is a moment in my life.
Whatever my blog my rules, when have I ever done anything not my way?
Like normal sentences. Though, now that I mention it, I have gotten way better since I first began.

Not when it comes to avoiding tangents, of course. (Shout out to the person who got that word stuck in my head, we have that in common.)

30 Song Challenge: Song That Reminds Me of Someone

This, like most challenges like this, is technically suppose to be a 30 day challenge but I've decided to make it weekly because; sadly, I'll only be blogging for 26 more weeks (not counting the final blogoversary week).

Song # 26: Song that Reminds Me of Someone

I am totally cheating this week. I did have a song in mind that reminds me of someone but then I realized that, maybe, it was time to stop using that person as my go to. And honestly now that I play back that song that association isn't as strong as it once was.
There were a few other options but they're not exactly ones I want to think too much about. I don't like listening to music and thinking of people, it's why I always listen to classical music when I'm upset, I know I won't remember that moment as well.
Same goes with books; just the other day I heard a song (which I might be sharing in a few weeks)that made me think of a book I read 4 years ago. As much as I love books I hate being reminded of them, especially since t's usually the ones that left me sad.

Game Changer by Charissa Stastny - Excerpt + Giveaway

Game Changer by Charissa Stastny Meridee Mansford wants nothing to do with the popular crowd. She’s comfortable being invisible. But that doesn’t stop her from dreaming about the hunky football player who visits the campus ice cream shop where she works. Still, she’s smart enough to know he’d never notice a girl like her, and she’d never want him even if he did. Too much unwelcome attention. Parker Harrington basks in the glory that’s been his since the game-changing passes he caught that pushed his team into the national spotlight. Sticky Fingers is his media moniker now, and the cheerleaders who used to ignore him when he sat the bench have become his most devoted fans. But when he accidentally crashes into a quiet coed and covers her in orange chicken, it throws off his offensive game. As fate, ice cream, and orange chicken throw the opposites together, will Parker continue keeping company with women he knows are only using him for his fame, or will he change up the game and risk his heart on a genuine girl who despises the attention he craves? Praise for the Book “A fun and flirty new adult romance. It’s a sweet indulgence that keeps you turning pages. The start to what is sure to be a great new series. – Jennifer Peel, author of Pianos and Promises series “Opposites attract when the overlooked sweet girl lands herself the popular football star in this quasi-Cinderella story. It’s the perfect read to keep you up way past your bedtime...”Taylor Dean, author of Chasing Fireflies

This, like most challenges like this, is technically suppose to be a 30 day challenge but I've decided to make it weekly because; sadly, I'll only be blogging for 27 more weeks (not counting the final blogoversary week).

I'm going to hate myself very soon for counting down.

Song #27: Song that makes me cry.
Because apparently I like doing things that make me hate myself. Let's listen to sad songs! What a great idea!
I've even made a playlist of songs that make me cry.

5 Books With Fall Covers

Disclaimer; I live in Los Angeles, we don't know the meaning of Autumn. For us the only thing "falling" is the temperature. And that's only a 5 degree drop.
Back in August I was in a store looking at all the Autumn and Halloween things and started freaking out. Not only was I not ready to let go of pretty dress weather but I'm just not a fan of both the season and holiday. Then I realized around here it's summer until the end of October so...

30 Song Challenge

This, like most challenges like this, is technically suppose to be a 30 day challenge but I've decided to make it weekly because; sadly, I'll only be blogging for 28 more weeks (not counting the final blogoversary week). Yeah, typical me I'm late.
In my defense I just thought of this last night.

So normally I'd be posting one song; but since I'm already two behind this will be the one exception.

Why haven't I made a badge for this yet?
Put that on my to do list.
Along with maybe bringing back the feature where I would go on about my "to do " list. It really only ever got two post a year maybe.

This week has three songs; one that I kept mentioning, one that I had on repeat and the other that kept playing on my phone today.

#FrightFall Readathon Goal Post

I have been looking forward to this since I heard about it. Month long readathon!
It's pretty typical of me; I just came out of a summer long reading challenge that drove me to a reading slump and then I get excited about making another list of books I want to read a month later.
I know, just have fun with it and I intend to because I discovered something once I broke out of my slump: the reasons for my reading slump (besides summer being slow, though I still don't understand why) is because I didn't want to get caught up in any story and whatever the characters would go through.
Basically I was subconsciously avoiding an inevitable book hangover.
