Songs of the Moment [10/31]

This is a feature I've started where I pick a song that represents the week, day or month; that fits with a moment I recently had. Or that's been on repeat.
Since very little happens to me on a weekly basis I only post every two weeks.

As I mentioned in an earlier post today, this is my last Halloween post. And it's only 1 of 2. I also mentioned that I do not care for the day. I will now add on that my caring less now, might be because it's my sister's wedding anniversary. A wedding I, or the rest of my family, was not told about; (while everyone on Facebook was) so I'm guessing there's some resentment there too. (Plus, every once in a while, she makes it seem like she wants me to offer my help in planning a wedding party because she "feels bad" that we weren't there.)

But getting past that pointless resentment (bigger fish to fry) my aversion to Halloween has been around since I was a kid. Really, I was only into it because I like dressing up; my mom would always make my costumes so there was that bonus factor. But besides that, nothing appealed to me about it, not even the candy.

And when did it get so morbid?
The company my dad works for had an office in the World Trade Center and ever since then when/if they do anything for Halloween there isn't any mention of death or gore. Now let's jump ahead 17 years where tragic, senseless deaths seem to be a norm. Why do people think this is a day to celebrate with blood and death?

Rant over.
Well one more: Dia de los Muertos? Not the Mexican Halloween. That's like saying Hanukah is the same as Christmas. And I find it both ironic and, sadly, appropriate that there's a whole thing about not wanting people from that culture (Latinos) in this country; and yet taking their traditions is no problem.
Although in defense of this country, the people who made it a "thing" in Los Angeles were trying to bring awareness to the Hispanic culture/community (and as always is the story their rights), so it is an entirely different thing out here than it would be in the original countries.

Okay, rant really over.

I say this is my second ever (music) post for Halloween, but I already shared one of these songs before; stating it as part Halloween, part moment in my life. And that song is from a Tim Burton movie, who also got his own post because it was the day before Halloween. So officially it's the second, really, not so much.

This is the song I shared that was "moment in my life," two years ago when I went to see the movie at the Hollywood Bowl. The original cast was there singing. best thing ever.
I wasn't even a fan of the movie then, I just really wanted to go because of Danny Elfman and the live orchestra. Every year they would do a concert of his music in Tim Burton movies and I never got to go so this was the next best thing.

This one's my favorite in the movie.

This one is my favorite of these covers. I love the acoustic guitar.
