30 Song Challenge: Song That Makes You Feel Guilty

This, like most challenges like it, is technically suppose to be a 30 day challenge but I've decided to make it weekly because; sadly, I'll only be blogging for 3 more weeks (not counting the final blogoversary week).

Song 3: Song That Makes You Feel Guilty

This one was always a problem.
Why would a song make me feel guilty? And if it evoked a guilty memory why would I want to listen to it? (I don't believe in guilty pleasures so that was never an option).

Then last month I decided to clear out some music from my computer and ended up listening to a lot of songs that I haven't paid attention to in awhile.
Including a lot of Taylor Swift.

I feel bad just singing along to it now!
And of course I'm singing along, it's that kind of song.

Backstory: It's no secret that I'm a country fan; and at the time I really jumped into the genre a new singer was just emerging: Taylor Swift. She's my age, and plays a sparkly guitar, and her dresses!
Of course I was a fan. Until everyone got to her. (I'm that kind of person.)
The only reason I listened to this album (Speak Now) was because my cousin picked it up. (I don't know why.) So we listened to it together and when this song came on we both really liked it. Great sound, whoa "the things she does on a mattress?" that's cruel but so well done.

I think that was my overall thought about the song: cruel but well done.
But then a few years ago it hit me that she's singing all that about someone. What a bitch!
I don't want to go into a whole thing about how I feel about Taylor now (short story no longer a fan) and I know that's her M.O. and basically a big part of why she's famous, but it's all really mean.

She's slut-shaming and tearing apart another woman just because her flake of a boyfriend dumped her. Yes we all do that but we're not blasting it and making money off of it. I've said some incredible mean things about women but I'm not putting it out there where they'll see it, and at no point have I built myself up by knocking someone else down.
