It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Last week I posted my last Top Ten Tuesday, and now I'm trying to figure out how many more It's Monday posts I'll be doing. I don't think I'm saying goodbye to this just yet.
Unless I just stop posting; which would be really sad because my whole point of the "farewell tour" was to not just end things abruptly.

Let's not think about that now.

Books I've read since my last post:

The Crown (The Selection, #5)The Crown by Kiera Cass
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have to admit that I was a little annoyed that a week after saying my goodbyes to America and Maxon the announcement for the following two books was made. I'm not a big fan of letting go and then being told that these characters are not done "toying with me" (as I said while reading The One.) And I was also probably somewhat fragile over the idea of beloved characters having babies (it was happening a lot in books that year.)
It's why I didn't rush to read them, there might have been a point where I thought I might just pass on them, but I'm glad I read them. It was nice seeing the next generation of characters I absolutely fell in love with.
They weren't anything spectacular, but still worth it for fans who made it so far with the original characters.

The Virgin Romance NovelistThe Virgin Romance Novelist by Meghan Quinn
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Virginity is not a flat tire that needs to be fixed, I can't stand it when books make it seem that way. Thankfully certain circumstances of the story kept it from getting that far, and at no point was there a "Just get it over with" attitude. But it also made it seem like a desperate deadline. "Need a man! Gotta do it!"
It had its moments of humor, but it just got too ridiculous at times.
I think there might have been a time so many years ago when I might have enjoyed it but, now, I just can't stand naïve overly innocent characters. Especially Rosie she was annoying to a point of coming off kind of dumb.

    1. That's good to hear, since I've seen a lot of mixed reviews about it.
