It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I'm starting to hate this time of year, I get in such a depression that there's just no hope. My awesome positive attitude I started the year off with: gone.
It lingers and I'm sure it'll be back but, at the moment, I'm on the brink of a pretty bad place.

And to top it off I think I'm about to hit a reading slump.
Or maybe I'm just not in the mood considering my current state of mind.

Books I've read since my last post:

Furthermore (Furthermore, #1)Furthermore by Tahereh Mafi
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Alice: I'm going to do this!
Oliver: Don't do that!
Alice: Why?
Oliver: Because I know what we're doing.
Alice: I'm going to go over here and talk with this stranger.
Oliver: I told you not to do that!
Alice: Why?!

I feel like that was mainly what the story consisted of.

I'm a little sad that I didn't enjoy it especially since I fell in love with the way it's written; but meh. I think I like the idea of stories like it more than the stories themselves.

Violent EndsViolent Ends by Shaun David Hutchinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So well done.

The Randy Romance NovelistThe Randy Romance Novelist by Meghan Quinn

DNF

It's like she read the reviews for the previous book and is now both defending it and making it seem like they're exactly what she was expecting.

Reading this week: (or at least trying to)
Timeless (Timeless, #1)Stroked (Stroked, #1)Mata Hari's Last Dance

Yes, I continue with Meghan Quinn this one isn't coming off as bad as the last ones.

  1. I hate reading slumps and just went through one a while back- ugh. Hope you feel more positive soon! I've never read Mafi, sorry that one was disappointing, but yay for Violent Ends! Hopping through from It's Monday What Are You Reading... hope you have a great week!!

    1. Thanks, hopefully I'll get through it soon; both my mood and the slump (they've sometimes lasted the entire summer).
This was my second Mafi book and I'm not entirely sure if I'll be going back for a third. They don't really capture my attention to want more.

    1. Thanks, I'm at the point where I'll just start reading books to see if any stick so they will vary at times.
